We are heartbroken to learn of the death of Joe Bell, who like us, was walking to bring bullying to the forefront of conversation. Everyone associated with Friend Movement expresses condolences to Mr. Bell’s family.
His death not only makes us more steadfast in our conviction to complete our walk to New York City, but it also makes us stronger in our belief that the profoundly harmful impact of bullying needs to top of mind. It needs to enter discussions in schools. It needs to enter discussions in the workplace. It needs to enter discussions between parents and kids. Above all else, it needs more people like Joe Bell, who like us want to raise the profile of how bullying affects all of us. We honor the pursuits of Joe’s Walk for Change by continuing our own walk. We do so on his behalf – and on behalf of those who have lost their lives because of bullying, including Joe’s son Jadin, and the hundreds of thousands of families who have been affected by bullying.
